Permalink Reply by Patricia Gligor on November 9, 2011 at 1:38pm What keeps me from buying a book? When I go to a bookstore (hard to find these days) or go online to find a book, I have a series of tests the book must pass. The cover and the title have to appeal to me; if they don't, I'm on to the next book. If they do, I read the brief synopsis and, if it sounds interesting, I read the author's bio and a few paragraphs of the first page, when available. When all that passes the test, I buy the book.
Permalink Reply by drob on January 16, 2012 at 5:46pm I must agree, in our current economy, price does play a part in decisions for all my purchases. That being said, if the book is one I need to complete a collection, or one I will read over and over, then yes, I will buy it. Sometimes depending on the author, I will purchase a hard copy to treasure and then either a paper or ebook for the actual read. Although this is rare and I stress it's only for a few, it is a great joy for me.
