WIP by Sharon E. Cathcart

I've been writing for as long as I can remember and generally have at least one work in progress. Right now, I'm working on two very different projects: a historical fiction piece that features both the Parisian modern art movement and early 20th century San Francisco ("In The Eye of The Storm"), and a non-fiction piece about humane education and animal rescue work ("Hugs and Hisses").

As a former newspaper editor and journalist, I must admit that my heart lies with non-fiction. However, readers seem to really like my fictional works, so I'm re-directing.

I'm very excited about this opportunity to answer readers' questions.

You Had To Be There: Three Years of Mayhem and Bad Decisions

in the Portland Music Scene by Sharon E. Cathcart

When author Sharon E. Cathcart was growing up, she dreamed of working in the music business. She lived that dream for seven years, starting at age 18. As she learned, not all dreams are pleasant ... and sometimes they can be downright nightmarish. Inspired by reminiscences among friends and former industry colleagues on a Facebook page dedicated to Portland's Satyricon night club, Sharon decided to tell her story.

Thanks for visiting Sharon!

You mentioned that your heart lies with writing Non-Fiction...what is your favorite part of writing Non-Fiction?

Hi, Jaidis. You know, it's my background as a journalist that put me in this position, to be honest. I enjoy the research, and the opportunities to examine the facts of a given situation. There's something very satisfying about it, much like putting together a complicated puzzle. Thanks so much for your question!

Your book sounds very interesting. How long did it take you to get your first book published?

Hi, Sue. My first book was published in 1995, when I was still a DoD employee. It's entitled "Born of War ... Dedicated to Peace," and it was a work for hire about the history of Sixth US Army. It was about three months of research and one month of writing. My first novel (In The Eye of The Beholder), OTOH, took three years to write (I mentioned that research business, right? I am picky about details). Then, I shopped it around for a year before it was picked up by UK publisher Turner Maxwell, Ltd. Almost exactly a year later, it was picked up by TreasureLine Publishing. Thanks for your question!

Thanks, everyone! I'm signing off for now, but will be back after 3 PM Pacific to answer any additional questions.

As the old broadcast saying goes, "We're back live"! I'll be here until 5 PM Pacific to take any remaining questions. Thank you!

Okay, that's it for me. Thanks, everyone, for your questions. If you would like to know more about me and my work, please feel free to visit my website or Facebook fan page at the links above! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.
