HARMONICA & GIG by R.J. Astruc
Does the title lead you to believe this book is quirky? Well, that’s what I figured and I wasn’t disappointed. In fact, I’m forced to admit that it’s almost too quirky for my limited intelligence. Although extremely well written and intelligently plotted, this novel was difficult for me due to the cyber/sci-fi blend of jargon—almost as if half of it was in a foreign language. However, readers who are up to speed with this genre will love it, and for the rest of us? Why, there’s plenty of…

Review of The Fossil by David Brookover
Just because we have evolved and developed over millennia, we still must relearn some things that have been lost to time. Early man may have been wiser than we are willing to believe. This story began with the discovery of a skeleton in a cave near a desolate stretch of the shore of Loch Lomond in Scotland. Nothing about this discovery is like any other known to present day man. Three Americans are drawn into the investigation when British Intelligence discovers it has a mole and gruesome…

The Top Ten Things I'm Thankful For
I try to keep a thankful spirit every day--when I don't it's easy to become discouraged and even a little bitter about some things--but regardless of historical accuracy or religious background, I see value in having a specific day set aside to really consider what it means, and what I'm thankful for. Some of these things may seem silly and I could probably come up with a much more impressive list, but this is pretty true for me personally:
10. My cat. Yes, I could live without him,…

I spent a few minutes on-line this morning trying to find out how many steps the average person takes in a day. I knew it was a big mistake the minute I typed the words into the search bar, but I thought it would be a fun fact to know. Well, I was right: it was a big mistake. How can anyone really know? Who goes around counting their steps and posting the number on the internet, anyway? No one,…
