In a chaotic world of increasing terrorism and failed global diplomacy, Zackary Stearn, along with a small staff of loyal employees, publishes a Miami weekly–The Boca. A defrocked Jesuit, Zack is skeptical of television news, organized religion, and politicians. He is especially leery of the sitting President of the United States–Benjamin P. Armstrong.
Armstrong's media guru, Dr. Barbara Lande, devises a plan to achieve the president’s megalomaniacal goal–a new world order of democratic capitalism. Zackary sees a breaking local Miami TV news story, an amateur video of a traffic stop showing the rape and murder of a black woman by two white male police officers. The media frenzy evolves into riots, and Armstrong appears on live televised to plead for calm.
After a harrowing night boat trip, Zack and a colleague meet with Zack’s friend Joe Case, who reveals the insidious plot—the video that began the chaos was staged by Armstrong’s minions.
Redacted is a riveting tale of media manipulation by cynical politicians to achieve their ends no matter what the cost. Originally released by Zumaya in 2003 as The Journalist, this new edition includes added scenes and dialogue.
